The Beginning :: Realizing your DREAM

So you wanna do photography? Well let me tell you , you have come to the right place. This is not going to be a long explanation of photography that is going to get you all bored and un-interested in the first few paragraphs. Nope. I am here to get you EXCITED about photography!!! That’s right! I’m here to encourage you in your fascination of the unknown.

First off, let me explain that this task should not be taken lightly. Photography is not just another area of interest that you can just pick up and go with it. It is an expression of life. An expression of how you look at the world and it’s surroundings.

Keep that in mind when you start this journey. Discover what kind of photography you are drawn to. Portraiture. Wedding. Nature. Architecture. Whatever area you choose, may sure it is what you LOVE. If you hate it, you will be miserable. And always keep learning. You can never learn to much about something. There will always be new things to learn, more people to meet, better technology to aspire to buy (my personal pet peeve). And never, and I mean NEVER let someone tell you that you can’t do it. That is one of the biggest lies in this day and age. If you love something, GO TRY IT. Trust me on this. It you don’t, you will regret it for the rest of your life. So, what are you waiting for??? Find a camera, play around, go learn, and EXPRESS!

My Story:

I was always shy growing up. Although my family encouraged me to pursue my dreams, I was always looking down on myself. I used to spend hours upon hours looking at other peoples “creations” and telling myself, “there is no way I could ever be that good”. That was the first lie. Then, I graduated high school and got into an artistic field that I loved. But still, I couldn’t believe that I could at least try to be good, even if it wasn’t the best, I could still do the best “I” could do. I had people who would encourage me in my endeavors, individuals who countless times helped me learn more in my field, but still, I didn’t believe I was good enough. That was the second lie. Than it hit me. Why do I always compare myself to other people? Everyone has there own abilities and talents. Why was I letting those people dictate what I was going to do with the abilities and talents God gave ME? Everyone is different. No one, NOT ONE PERSON is the same. That was the first step I took in moving forward with my dream. I needed to realize that God gave me my very own gift. Those other people that I was comparing myself to had their own gift. If they were better than me, fine. If they knew more than me, whatever. I had MY own gift. Was I gonna let this God given gift and love for photography go to waste? Nope. With God’s grace, I am now running my own photography business, and have come to love photography and it’s attributes more and more each day! Sure, I’m may not know as much as some, and I may not be able to express what I would like some of the time, but I LOVE what I do. Isn’t that what it’s all about? LOVE what you do. LIVE life to the fullest, and always PURSUE your dreams. Oh yah, and drink lots of coffee. That’s a must for photographers ;)

I hope this has helped and encouraged you to move forward with your dream of being a photographer. It might be intimidating at first, but once you move forward, a weight will be lifted off your shoulders and you can start enjoy life again. So GO. Imagine, Create, and Inspire :)
